Bedroom paint calculator
A typical bedroom is 12 × 11 ft with one door and one window. Walls take ~330 sq ft of paint, which works out to a single gallon for a same-color refresh and two gallons for a color change. Eggshell is the default finish — washable enough to wipe handprints off, soft enough to read as quiet at night.
Recommended finish: eggshell
How much paint for a 12 × 11 bedroom?
About 1 gallon for one coat in the same color, or 2 gallons for two coats over a color change. With Kompozit ONE you can usually get away with one coat on a same-color refresh.
Should I paint the ceiling?
Most bedroom repaints skip the ceiling unless it's yellowed, water-stained, or you're changing the wall color dramatically. A ceiling painted the same off-white as last time will read fine. If you do, plan for ~0.5 gallons of flat ceiling paint.
FAQ
Eggshell. It has a slight sheen that resists fingerprints and wipes clean, but it doesn't look glossy or institutional. Satin is OK if you want more wipeability; flat tends to scuff in higher-traffic bedrooms.
Yes for a one-coat refresh: prep in the morning, paint in the afternoon, sleep in it that night with the windows open. For a color change with two coats, plan two days because you want each coat fully dry.
